The Adventures of Melvin the Explorer Press Release

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Presents
“The Adventures of Melvin the Explorer”

(LINCOLN, Neb. – January 23, 2019) Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra returns to O’Donnell Auditorium at Nebraska Wesleyan University for their family concert performance, The Adventures of Melvin the Explorer on Sunday, February 3, at 2:00 p.m.

Joining LSO will be actor Tim Marrone, who will portray Melvin the Explorer, as he, the conductor, and the orchestra seek the Golden Baton, which will help them to make beautiful music.

In search of the Golden Baton, the explorers will travel to different lands, learn about rhythm, melody, and harmony, and evade the scary Monkey King by performing classical and popular favorites, including excerpts from John Williams’ Raiders of the Lost Ark, Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.

“I’m always delighted and grateful to perform with Maestro Polochick and the amazing Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra,” said actor Tim Marrone. “This program promises to be educational in a very fun way, and filled with great musicians, played by a great orchestra.”

This all-ages, family-friendly concert will be preceded by a family festival starting at 1 p.m. in the lobby areas of the Rogers Fine Arts Center at Nebraska Wesleyan University Campus, 50th Street and Huntington Avenue. Dietze Music and Lincoln Suzuki Studios will sponsor an instrument petting zoo, and children can also enjoy a photobooth provided by JamesAnn Photography. Face-painting and arts and crafts will be provided by Lincoln’s Macaroni Kids. To stay current with symphony events, follow Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter – and don’t forget to use #LSOlove while visiting the free JamesAnn Photography photobooth during intermission.

Tickets for all LSO Family Concerts are specially priced at $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be ordered online at www.lincolnsymphony.com, or by calling LSO at (402) 476-2211.
