Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Presents
“Superstar Strings”

(LINCOLN, Neb. – Sept. 18, 2019) Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra returns to the Lied Center for Performing Arts for their Classical series performance, Superstar Strings on Friday, September 27th at 7:30 p.m.

Led by Music Director Edward Polochick, the program will open with Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn by Johannes Brahms.

After the Brahms two of the world’s most celebrated string superstars, Pinchas Zukerman and Amanda Forsyth, will take the stage with LSO. Zukerman will present Romance for Violin and Orchestra in F minor, and Forsyth will follow with Silent Woods, both works written by Antonin Dvořák. The orchestra will close out the first half with Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, Nos. 5 and 7.

“Our audience appreciates the high level of artistic quality they have come to expect from LSO’s professional musicians who live and work in our community,” says Music Director Edward Polochick. “To add to that, the excitement is tangible when a living legend like violinist Pinchas Zukerman joins the orchestra. The music-making will be such a pleasure as we welcome both Mr. Zukerman and Amanda Forsyth, a phenomenal cellist, to join the orchestra for a program that our audience will be talking about long after the performance ends.”

Following intermission, the soloists will join the orchestra for Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Violoncello in A minor.

“What a program to begin our LSO season,” Polochick continues. “These two composers have worked their way into the heart of anyone who loves classical music. Brahms, in a way, handed over the musical mantle to Dvorak, so you’ll hear echoes of Brahms’ romantic style in the unique voice of Dvorak. They complement each other so beautifully, and the experience of hearing each of them is enriched by hearing them both together on the same program.”

Tickets for the concert are available for purchase online at www.lincolnsymphony.com, by phone at (402) 476‑2211, or by visiting Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra’s box office (233 S. 13th St., Ste. 1702).

NET Radio’s Genevieve Randall will host a pre-concert chat at 6:45 p.m. the evening of the concert in the Steinhart Room with Maestro Polochick. LSO’s pre-concert chats are supported in part by Humanities Nebraska.
