Mozart & Beethoven Press Release

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Presents

“Mozart & Beethoven”

(LINCOLN, Neb. – October 26, 2018) Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra returns to the Lied Center for Performing Arts for their CLASSICAL SERIES performance, Mozart & Beethoven, on November 9th at 7:30 p.m.

Led by Music Director Edward Polochick, the program will open with a side-by-side performance with the Lincoln Youth Symphony of Gioachino Rossini’s William Tell Overture. LSO will then take to the stage to perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 39.

“One of the great things about this concert is that it is a concert of giants. The composers represented on this concert are three of the most celebrated and loved composers of the Classical era, along with great standard, familiar, and brilliant pieces from each composer,” says Music Director Edward Polochick. “We look forward to the Lincoln Youth Symphony joining us for the William Tell Overture, a well-loved and well-known piece. This is such a wonderful opportunity for these young, budding musicians to learn challenging repertoire alongside professionals who know this piece well, and who can guide them through their performance of it.”

Polochick is also looking forward to the pieces LSO will perform on the remainder of the concert. “Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 is one of the crowning achievements of symphonic works from the Classical era, and it’s a brilliant work. We’re very excited to share this entertaining, enlightening program with our audience,” Polochick said.

To pair with these works, pianist Mark Clinton will take the stage after intermission with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4.

Polochick looks forward to having Clinton work with LSO again. “Mark is well known in our LSO community, and the Lincoln community in general. He’s a top-drawer musician who has distinction in all areas of the piano, whether it is a solo recital, chamber music, pedagogical work, or performing with an orchestra. He’s no stranger to LSO’s stage, and we are thrilled to have him back for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4. This work is filled with compositional brilliance and the technical virtuosity that are hallmarks of Beethoven’s piano concerti, and I know Mark will take this work to a new level,” Polochick said.

Tickets for the concert are available for purchase online at www.lincolnsymphony.com, by phone at (402) 476-2211, or by visiting Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra’s box office (233 S. 13th St., Ste. 1702).
