Dvořák & Brahms Press Release

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Presents

“Dvořák & Brahms”

(LINCOLN, Neb. – February 25, 2019) Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra returns to the Lied Center for Performing Arts for their Classical series performance, Dvořák & Brahms on March 8, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

Led by Music Director Edward Polochick, the program will open with Antonin Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A Minor, performed by soloist Bomsori Kim.

“I am very excited to work with Bomsori Kim, a young superstar in the violin world,” says Polochick. “She has performed with some of the great international orchestras, and we’re thrilled she can come to Lincoln so soon after her successful New York Philharmonic debut last month. Our audience is in for a treat, especially with such wonderful repertoire. This concerto is absolutely chockfull of melody, drama, and some wonderful folk songs from the Czech Republic. Dvořák’s melodic work is such that audience members will leave singing and humming some of the themes they hear.”

To pair with this work, the orchestra will perform Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1.

“This symphony is a true musical journey. The opening is so ominous, but then by the fourth movement opens up to the most triumphant of themes. Brahms’ writing is brilliant; there isn’t a single wasted note, melody, drama, or harmony,” says Polochick. “In this concert, the listener will be pampered with beauty, lyricism, and melody, as well as being propelled through a sonic spectrum of drama and virtuosity.”

Tickets for the concert are available for purchase online at www.lincolnsymphony.com, by phone at (402) 476-2211, or by visiting Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra’s box office (233 S. 13th St., Ste. 1702).
