Ben Folds in Concert Press Release

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Presents
“Ben Folds in Concert”

(LINCOLN, Neb. – Sept. 14th, 2018) Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra returns to the Lied Center of Performing Arts for their season opening pops performance, Ben Folds in Concert on Sept. 28th, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

Led by Music Director Edward Polochick, the program will be announced from the stage, and will include such hits as “Brick”, “Luckiest One”, and selections from Ben Fold’s latest album, “So There.”

“Ben Folds is such an iconic voice of his generation, and we couldn’t be more excited to feature him on LSO’s opening concert this season”, says Music Director Edward Polochick.  “Ben has performed to sold-out crowds with some of the greatest orchestras in the world, and our orchestra is thrilled to host him here in Lincoln, Nebraska.”

Polochick looks forward to introducing Ben Folds to the LSO audience. “There will be something for everyone to enjoy; his diehard fans will be able to sing along to many of his popular songs, and our audience will be treated to a performance of part of an original composition that Ben wrote in part to help new audiences connect with classical music,” Polochick said.

During the past decade Ben Folds has performed with many orchestras, and in fact serves as an advocate for orchestras. Ben once wrote that “the enthusiasm for the institution of the Symphony Orchestra is more incredible than you can know. People intuitively understand that the orchestra is the symbol of civilization itself.” He further wrote that “it’s time that the symbol of civilization itself, the symphony orchestra, can inspire and remind us how working together makes something more beautiful than the sum of its parts. In truth, we need that institution more than it needs us.” (https://www.benfolds.com/music-ed)
