Beethoven Lives Upstairs Press Release

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Presents
“Beethoven Lives Upstairs”

(LINCOLN, Neb. – September 17, 2018) Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra returns to the O’Donnell Auditorium at Nebraska Wesleyan University for their family concert performance, Beethoven Lives Upstairs on September 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

Led by Music Director Edward Polochick, the program will be a collaboration with Classical Kids Live!, telling the story of Christoph, played by Andrew Redlawsk, writing letters to his Uncle, played by Jeff Kuhl, regarding the “madman” living above him—Beethoven himself. Through a touching correspondence dramatically underscored by Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, with more than twenty-five excerpts from the composer’s most beautiful works, Christoph comes to understand the genius of Beethoven, the beauty of his music, and the torment of his deafness.

Classical Kids LIVE! is produced by Classical Kids Music Education, a Chicago-based not-for-profit organization that works to enrich communities through direct access to culturally significant venues, professional artists and organizations, and high-quality theatrical concert productions, while fostering new appreciation for classical music and music history. In combination with the Classical Kids Teaching Edition, Classical Kids LIVE! serves as one of the world’s best educational outreach and community engagement programs contributing to the long-term health of classical music.

“Beethoven Lives Upstairs is such a wonderful, accessible show for everyone, and not just kids, but the kid in all of us.” said Music Director Edward Polochick.

“With its engaging story line, and familiar and not so familiar works, there will be pieces that everyone in the audience can latch on to. It’s a show that everyone can learn from, both from a musical and historical perspective.” Polochick said.

Tickets for the concert are available for purchase online at www.lincolnsymphony.com, by phone at (402) 476‑2211, or by visiting Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra’s box office (233 S. 13th St., Ste. 1702).
