An Evening with Anton Press Release

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra Presents

“An Evening with Anton”

(LINCOLN, Neb. – January 29, 2019) Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra returns to the Lied Center for Performing Arts for their Classical series performance, An Evening with Anton on February 9, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

Led by Music Director Edward Polochick, the program will open with Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D Major, performed by concertmaster Anton Miller.

“Anton is a top-drawer, top-notch artist,” says Music Director Edward Polochick. “Studying Brahms with him is an eye-opening experience, in terms of musical approach. His artistry, his musicianship, technique, tone, virtuosity, and ability to create ethereal moods with the way he spins a phrase is magical. It will be some incredible music-making.”

To pair with this work, Anton Miller will rejoin the orchestra as concertmaster for Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3.

“Mendelssohn elicits all the greatest qualities of the great composers,” says Polochick. “He has the intricacy of Mozart and Bach, the lushness of Brahms, and the transparency of Beethoven. His Third Symphony in particular is a beautiful and rhapsodic work, and we are thrilled to be performing it.”

Tickets for the concert are available for purchase online at www.lincolnsymphony.com, by phone at (402) 476-2211, or by visiting Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra’s box office (233 S. 13th St., Ste. 1702).

NET Radio’s Genevieve Randall will host a pre-concert chat at 6:45 p.m. the evening of the concert in the Steinhart Room with Maestro Polochick. LSO’s preconcert chats are supported in part by Humanities Nebraska.
