Amanda Wilton

wilton-photoViolist Amanda Wilton holds degrees from the University of Houston, University of Maryland, University of Missouri-St. Louis, and the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain where she studied with the Casals Quartet as a Fulbright Researcher. During her postgraduate studies in Europe, Amanda performed in nearly every city in Spain, Switzerland, and Germany. More recently she has performed in recitals in Houston, Chicago, and West Michigan with a program promoting English composer York Bowen’s three viola and piano masterworks written for Lionel Tertis, the subject of her DMA dissertation.

Amanda performs regularly in the viola section of the Omaha Symphony as a substitute musician, and during the summer with the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra. She has served as Principal Viola of the Brazos Valley Symphony in Texas and Principal Viola of the Cedar Rapids Symphony in Iowa, and has held positions in the viola sections of the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Dubuque Symphony, and Quad City Symphony.

Dr. Wilton is currently Director of Strings and Resident Assistant Professor at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and is on the Viola Faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in her home state of Michigan.
