LSO’s opening concert features principal clarinetist Diane Barger playing Scott McAllister’s X - Concerto for Clarinet, a tribute to the music of Generation X. The program includes Robert Schumann’s spirited Overture, Scherzo and Finale, and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, an energetic work that pays homage to the folk music of Scotland.

Join LSO and the Lincoln Community Playhouse for an afternoon of storytelling. LSO’s performance of Saint-Saens’ charming Carnival of the Animals will be enhanced with actors and narration. Join us before the concert for face painting, crafts and a musical petting zoo.

Madcap Puppets



A duet of Vaughan Williams works includes Serenade to Music, a gorgeous setting for Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, and Flos Campi, a lush composition featuring solo viola and choir. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, with its famous opening gesture and emotional journey of struggle to victory, closes the program.

The overture to Mozart’s famous opera, Don Giovanni, opens LSO's concert dedicated to great classical era composers. Franz Schubert's sparkling Symphony No. 5 is followed by Beethoven's beautiful Romance No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra featuring concertmaster Anton Miller. The concert closes with Haydn's Symphony No. 94, "The Surprise.”

LSO and trombonist Andy Strain break out their "brushes" to "paint" Rossini’s William Tell Overture and Sarasate’s Ziguenerweisen on a giant virtual canvas, using light and infrared technology. The program culminates with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

LSO concertmaster Anton Miller is featured in the virtuosic Jean Sibelius Violin Concerto in D Minor. The only violin concerto Sibelius wrote, the work is hauntingly lovely even from its opening notes. Tchaikovsky’s dramatic Symphony No. 5, with its musical representation of ultimate victory over strife, will leave the audience – and musicians – breathless.
