Music Director Edward Polochick and Concertmaster Anton Miller perform a special recital in support of Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra. The afternoon program will include Beethoven's Spring Sonata, works by Kreisler, Debussy, and other music for violin and piano. Following the performance, Ed and Anton will be available for questions and conversation during a cocktails and hors d'oeuvres reception. The galleries in the museum will be open before and after the concert for no additional charge. Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Gregory Helseth is featured on Benjamin Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, an atmospheric setting of six poems on the subject of "night." LSO's strings are featured on Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Mozart's famously euphoric Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. To close the program, Susan Levine choreographs Richard Strauss's Suite for 13 Winds.

A piece that changed the face of symphonic music, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 is the finale of the 2009-10 season. Preceded by Beethoven's Consecration of the House Overture, Symphony No. 9 is a work os revolutionary innovation. It closes with the exultant Ode to Joy, its famous melody celebrating joy, freedom and humanity.
